Established in 2006, Rock of Ages is a multi-lingual, non-denominational, non-profit ensemble that pioneered the four-part singing concept in Kochi,Kerala. Rock of Ages is today the vanguard of choral ensembles in Kochi and has enriched and transformed people’s lives through singing. It believes that choral music helps to enhance lives and build better communities because music knows no boundaries of caste, creed or colour.  Rock of Ages fosters a vibrant and inclusive choral community by creating opportunities and engaging with the diverse population of Kochi. This choral group has a vision of bringing together people, young and old, from various backgrounds and traditions and thereby establish a universal choral singing culture. To date  Rock of Ages has conducted 9 concerts in Kochi and one each in Trivandrum and Thiruvalla.

ANJANA ABRAHAM

Anjana Abraham is the resident music conductor of Rock of Ages. An alumna of the Singapore Management University (SMU), she has been president and music director of SMU Voix, SMU’s  acapella group and part of the founding executive committee of the SMU Chamber Choir. She was also an executive producer in the SMU Arts Festival 2009 Performing Arts Committee.

In 2008 Anjana was awarded the Dean of Students Award, in recognition of her significant contributions to the arts in SMU.  Anjana is also the 2009 recipient of the University Student Life Arts Excellence Award, SMU’s most prestigious honour for artistic achievements. This was presented to her by His Excellency Mr. S. R. Nathan, President of Singapore.

Her love for music has taken her to many countries in South East Asia and Europe, including Poland, Russia, the Czech Republic and Croatia. She was also a member of the Singapore Chorus performed at the Singapore premiere of Singapore a Geographical Utopia conducted by Russian composer and conductor Vladimir Martynov. She has performed with the SMU Chamber Choir, conducted by Jennifer Tham; at the Mundus Cantat Sopot: IV International Choir Festival, at the Grand Prix St. Petersburg 2009 and at the Russia: III World Choir Festival. She is presently also the Vice-President of Nava Nirman Educaton and Welfare Society
