“And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.” (Kahlil Gibran)
For Manoj Narayanan and Praveen Muraleedharan the concept of Ecotones Camps was born out of a passion to bring guests closer to nature. While most hotels and resorts utilize the beauty of nature and the wilderness to sell themselves, there are very few that give back to nature or contribute to conservation in any way. Eco-tourism responsible travel to natural areas that does not damage the environment, contributes to its conservation, and improves the well-being of local people is an ethical option and Ecotones attempts to imbibe this culture in its true sense. Guests can indulge in nature-oriented exploratory activities such as bird watching and nature trails or can just sit back and enjoy the scenic view. With activities such as cycling and guided nature walks, we hope to take people one step closer to nature and inculcate an interest for the natural world through observation and learning about its many intricacies.
Trekking with MANOJ NARAYANAN
“Manoj has all of the skills of a professional guide with the connections and know-how of a local. I saw him accommodate all sorts of requests for guests, so you really can make your own holiday. But I highly recommend taking his advice and joining him on a nature walk. He’s a skilled tracker and birder, and even if you don’t know anything about nature, you’ll be spotting and identifying wildlife within a few hours! Don’t miss the early morning hike to watch the sun rise over the Western Ghats! It’s an unforgettable experience.” (Mary K, New York – Tripadvisor)
Manoj’s experiences of more than 15 years in the travel industry have played a very important role in moulding his interests and love for travel, tourism and hospitality. His travels showed him all that was the best in these fields; what could be made better; and what the need of the hour was.
Thus the concept of Ecotones is a dream come true for Manoj: a place where smiles are not put on but genuinely shared; a quiet retreat to just unwind and not be disturbed by anything other than the breeze beating a gentle tattoo on your face. And Manoj makes sure Ecotones remains that way.
Hailing from the village of Muthuvankudi where Ecotones is located, Manoj is well-versed with the peoples and their cultures which goes a long way in understanding the pulse of the area and its people. Stationed at Ecotones throughout the year, he oversees all the activities offered at Ecotones – from accompanying guests on captivating cycling routes, imparting information about the area, its spices and agriculture along his one-of-a-kind spice walks, to leading the way along challenging treks, showing you around the village and captivating you with the tantalizing aromas of cuisine demonstrations.
